Agreement with Fresenius Kabi approved

PHARMAC is pleased to announce the approval of an agreement with Fresenius Kabi Australia Pty Limited for the listing and supply of sodium chloride infusions. This was the subject of a consultation letter dated 30 July 20101. In summary, the effect of our decision is that Freeflex (sodium chloride 0.9%), 500 ml and 1,000 ml bags will be listed from 1 November 2010 in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule and PHARMAC will not be able to delist Freeflex prior to 1 July 2012. Freeflex will not have Hospital Supply Status, so DHB Hospitals can continue to purchase other brands should they choose to. Details of the proposal Freeflex will be listed in Part II of Section H of the Pharmaceutical Schedule from 1 November 2010 as follows:

Chemical Sodium chloride Sodium chloride Presentation Inf 0.9% Inf 0.9% Brand Freeflex Freeflex Pack size 500 ml 1000 ml Price $1.70 $1.71
