Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC)
The Consumer Advisory Committee (CAC) provides PHARMAC with input from a patient or health consumer perspective. It was established in 2002 following the requirements of the New Zealand Public Health and Disability Act 2000 and provides advice to PHARMAC on a broad range of PHARMAC's activities, including around medicines funding issues. It is not, however, involved in the assessment of pharmaceutical funding applications.
The Committee meets at least twice a year, and is guided by its Terms of Reference (26 pages, 586 KB). Minutes of meetings are available here.
For more information about the Consumer Advisory Committee and other ways PHARMAC obtains consumer views, read the Engaging with consumers (1 page, 174 KB) information sheet.
